+ My loved one is in the hospital, what steps should I take to transition him/her to Pavilion?

When your loved one has an acute injury or surgery, there are many decisions to make during the hospital stay. One of them may be where to go for rehabilitation. During your hospital stay, you will be assigned a case manager that assists you during your hospital stay and plays a vital role in assisting you with your discharge plan. Typically, you will be given a list of choices for rehabilitation centers. The Pavilion employs a Clinical Liaison and is able to meet with you in the hospital to discuss the type of care you need, your insurance information, and to review any rehabilitation questions you may have. When possible, you or a loved one should visit our center so that you can make an informed decision. The decision of where to receive post-acute care could be crucial to the outcome of your loved one’s recovery, and a return to their prior level of function.

+ What is rehab/rehabilitation?

Upon admission all patients are evaluated by Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy. All therapists are Pavilion employees, so they are part of your care team and will work with you throughout your stay for consistency and continuity of care. Therapy is provided seven days a week, including weekends and holidays. Our dynamic and positive method of delivering care welcomes innovative and non-traditional therapy interventions that address goals of optimal health, function and quality of life for each person we serve.

+ What is the difference between long term care and short term rehabilitation?

Pavilion can accommodate both long term care and short term rehabilitation stays. The main difference between the two is that Medicare and private insurance can cover a short term rehabilitation stay, but not long term care. In rare cases, when a patient completes their rehabilitation at Pavilion, it is determined that they are not able to return to their home. At this point if the patient decides to stay at Pavilion (or transfers to any other facility) the stay would be considered long term. There are two ways to pay for long term care: privately (out-of-pocket) and Medicaid/MassHealth.

+ Who pays for my rehabilitation stay?

Your Medicare or private insurance will cover your room and board, nursing, and rehabilitation at Pavilion after a qualifying hospital stay. If you have specific questions about how your insurance will pay for rehabilitation, we encourage you to call us and ask to speak to the Business Office.

+ How many residents can Pavilion accommodate?

Pavilion has 82 beds that span two floors.

+ Are pets permitted?

Yes! Visitors are encouraged to bring pets in for a visit.

+ Does Pavilion have a hair salon?

We have a hairdresser available and appointments can be made at the front desk or at the nursing stations.

+ What are the visiting hours at Pavilion?

Though we do not enforce specific visiting hours, we suggest that you visit your loved one between the hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. out of respect for the other patients recovering here.
